Stone Carving - Roman Letters - Experience at the Blended Monkey Studios - June 2026
It's been wonderful to witness another fabulous stone carving experience here in the Blended Monkey outdoor covered studio today. Our guest tutor and talented stonemason, Mark, guided our group in carving a Roman letter of their choosing into a slab of Portland stone.
Mark showed everyone how to draw their letter on to the stone; explaining the nuances of letter structure along the way. After laying out their letters, they went on to carefully carve them. They all look absolutely amazing!
We kept the group fuelled with teas, coffees and some home-baked brownies & shortbread courtesy of Fanoggins Bakery - and everyone also enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Blended Monkey kitchen.
Check out the photos & videos below - some truly wonderful pieces were created - and all in just one day!
If you missed out on this fabulous experience, we have more stone carving workshops scheduled throughout the year.

"Excellent one-day course in stone carving in a beautiful, relaxed environment. I really learnt a lot about working with stone and am encouraged to learn more. Regular tea and coffee breaks with homemade treats and really lovely lunch ensured that energy didn't flag during what was a full day of hands-on stone carving."
