It was a joy to witness another wonderful stone carving experience here in the Blended Monkey outdoor covered studio today. Our guest tutor and stonemason, Mark, guided our lovely group in making a relief carving of florals & foliage into a slab of Portland stone.
Mark had prepped the stone sections, and students could choose from either a beautiful oak leaf or a symmetrical flower. They all look absolutely amazing - and I'm astounded at how much everyone always achieves in just one day!
We kept the crew fuelled with teas, coffees and some home-baked brownies & shortbread courtesy of Fanoggins Bakery - and everyone also enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Blended Monkey kitchen.
Check out the photos & videos below - some truly wonderful pieces were created - and all in just one day!
If you missed out on this great experience, we have more stone carving workshops scheduled throughout the year.

"Wonderful relaxing weekend staying at the Crafters retreat. Tucked away in expansive gardens, the wooden cabin has everything you need. We went next door on the Saturday for a days stone carving course. Small group and brilliant tuition from the highly skilled Mark. Broken by a delicious lunch - very much homemade. All in all, the perfect get away with the opportunity to learn a new skill. Fantastic!.”

"We had a great day on a stone carving workshop making carved flowers. Our tutor was patient, gave us useful tips and lots of stories about stone masons and history. A lovely setting, yummy food and good company. We will be back."

"So just for one day, I was a Stonemason! Great fun, a great tutor, full of knowledge and patience, plus a fun group of fellow masons. Oh and lunch was amazing! Thoroughly recommend this as a day away from the humdrum."
