Saturday 17 August - 10.30 - 4.30 pm

Join Zakiya, our guest tutor from Fanoggins, for a beginner's JUNK JOURNALLING workshop where you'll build a unique 5x7" spiral-bound journal from scratch.

Junk journalling is an extremely varied craft involving techniques from a range of disciplines. However, this workshop focuses on the main skills that'll ensure you come away with a piece you're proud of, such as:

  • spiral binding
  • stamping
  • sewing
  • envelope & pocket making, and
  • collaging

The whole procedure will be explained from start to finish by Zakiya and also with the aid of real-time footage on a large screen showing each step up close.

The session will start with a brief introduction about the craft and the plans for the day. Following that, Zakiya will demonstrate a few techniques before you create your journal's front and back covers.

Once your covers are complete, you'll pick 25 inside pages and we'll help you to spiral bind your journal.

By this point, you may be feeling a tad peckish, so you can head over to the Docky Box Tearoom for lunch.

In the afternoon, we'll demonstrate some more techniques (envelope making, pocket creation, and sewing) before letting you get stuck into filling the pages using washi tapes, ephemera, pockets, stamping, bands ... so many options!

At the end of the session, you'll take your newly created 25-page 5x7" junk journal home where you can continue to add to it if you wish.

We’ll supply everything you need to craft your junk journal (including a fabulous starter pack bursting with papers and ephemera - you can take what's left over from this home with you at the end), but you’re welcome to bring your own photographs, magazines, old books, drawings, buttons, and ephemera to use in your journal.

Suitable for children 13+ accompanied by an adult.

Your ticket price covers all the equipment and materials, alongside tea/coffee and refreshments throughout the day.

Tickets cost just £50.00 and include
