Another warm day but our willow ducks & piglets sculpture weavers enjoyed the shade and breeze provided by our dedicated outdoor covered workshop space set in the Blended Monkey gardens. Our guest tutor, talented basketmaker & willow weaver, Karen Bek, guided our group through all the processes and techniques required to make their beautifully unique ducks and piglets.

One of the students came up with the ingenious idea of adding a fir cone to the inside of her duck as its "heart". How adorable is that!

We kept the refreshments flowing throughout the experience and provided a lovely lunch, catering to our gluten-free students too, and with all the bakes (vegan brownies, cookies, "sausage" rolls and scrummy cheese scones) provided by the wonderful Fanoggins Bakery.

The photos and videos here provide some great insights into the day.

If you missed out on this wonderfully relaxing and creative hare sculpture workshop, Karen is joining us again for some more sculpture experiences next year, so watch this space.

"Had a super day at the willow weaving class with our tutor Karen. The day was well paced, with plenty of time to help us as individuals. Louise and Simon were great hosts welcoming us into their beautiful home which has been skilfully adapted to offer several different craft areas. They looked after us so well with plenty of water throughout a very hot day, tea, coffee, cold drinks and excellent food. The home made cookies and sausage rolls stole the show. And… they even arranged for perfect weather! It was delightful weaving in the shade of a large awning - just perfect. Thank you all.”

Had a fantastic day at Blended Monkey's Willow Weaving workshop last weekend. The workshop groups are small (8 attendees on our one) which allowed the tutor to help and advise everyone on making their willow ducks and pigs. Lunch and refreshments were provided - the veggie sausage rolIs were a highlight! I will certainly be signing up for more workshops - great and inexpensive way of learning a new skill.”
