Yesterday's cyanotype textile art experience with the talented Debs Munford as guest tutor was really successful. Cyanotype is such an interesting and mysterious process!
The students were guided through the steps, initially working on paper to gauge how to mix the chemicals and gain an understanding of the artform. Luckily, the weather held so their lovely creations could dry outside in the garden.
It was also wonderful to see the students make use of our extensive Blended Monkey gardens, featuring mature trees, ponds, grasses and various beds of flowers and areas laid to wild plants. They were able to walk around at their leisure and choose leaves & grasses to make their beautiful creations.
After a lovely lunch, featuring bakery items made by Fanoggins Bakery, the ladies moved on to cyanotype printing on to fabrics, including silk - with astounding results.
Once dry, their printed fabrics were arranged to create a lovely panel; stitching everything to a backing.
Such a beautiful, unique process. Looking forward to another one of these fab experiences.
