I love this time of year, and after the bitter cold and rain yesterday, the beautifully clear and bright weather was perfect for visiting Shouldham Warren. We had an exhilarating walk through the woods. A crisp breeze brought a shine to our faces. Definitely one of the best places to clear your head and breathe in the wonderful woodland scents.
Simon and I used to walk here a lot when we had our lovely dogs Nutmeg & Harry, but haven't really ventured out this way much in a while. So we decided to change that today and return to one of our favourite walking sites.
As a child, I loved to forage and collect leaves and moss and anything that I could maybe make a fairy house from :-).
Things haven't changed, and although I've brought some gorgeous leaves back home, I mainly took photos of the things that inspired me on our walk today - beautiful lichen, a strange twisted tree trunk, a plethora of leaves in all shapes and colours, a fern frond on the turn...
A lot of coppicing and logging has been going on in the woods, so some of the pathways were not fit for walking on, but there were plenty of open walkways and tracks.
Shouldham Warren is just up the road from Downham Market, so if you haven't had a chance to visit, it's well worth it. Stunning scenery - peace and quiet.
