Realistic Pencil Drawing Course - 4 evenings over 4 weeks - at our Blended Monkey Studios - October 2026

We've enjoyed hosting our second realistic pencil drawing course taught by our talented guest tutor artist Tamara Finlay here in our Blended Monkey Studios & Gardens.
This small-group experience has taken our beginner pencil drawers to the next level!
The group has met up for three hours every Friday evening from 18 September to 9 October for 4 sessions of realistic pencil drawing.
Tam devised a fabulous beginner-friendly course that started everyone off learning the basics of layering, light and shade, and how to apply and use colour effectively.
Week 1's drawing project was to replicate cherries using coloured pencils; week 2 focussed on a dog's face in a single colour (which can be challenging but a great discipline to learn), and understanding how to draw hair; week 3 saw the beginnings of the final project - a beautiful hare - take shape, with the group learning how to recreate fur in a realistic way using coloured pencils; and week 4 was a continuation of this A4-sized realistic hare and Tam brought along an eye project too (eyes are always tricky!) for those who had completed their hares.
The group is now armed with lots of information and skills they need to continue on its drawing journey - but maybe dipping in to some of the short 3-hour one-off sessions that Tam is running here in the Blended Monkey Studios.
These sessions are relaxed and fun, and Tam is very generous with her 1-2-1 time and sharing of knowledge.
We keep creative juices flowing with plenty of refreshments including lots of tasty bakes courtesy of Fanoggins Bakery - our last week included a new signature shortbread (chocolate orange) to welcome the autumn season.
If you missed out on this course, we're holding it again next year as a 3-evening course - starting Friday 2 July, 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm here in our Blended Monkey Studios.
