I held two ceramic botanical vases workshops today here in our cosy Blended Monkey Crafts Studio.
The five students in my morning session all created their very own unique botanical vases made from slabs of stoneware clay. Some embellished with "sprigs" - 3D elements applied to the outside of the vessels - and others added patterned rollers and stamps to make their beautiful vases even more bespoke.

The afternoon session was attended by a family group of 3 students - mum, daughter and mother-in-law - a lovely group who enjoyed their very own family experience here in the Blended Monkey Studios.

Simon kept the students on each of these 2-hour workshops supplied with cups of tea & coffee. The morning group also enjoyed Fanoggins Bakery coconut cookies; the afternoon group had the wonderful Fanoggins signature chocolate brownies.
All of the vases will now dry very slowly before being bisque fired in the kiln. I'll then apply the glazes requested by the students before the vessels are then fired again in the glaze firing.
The photos here provide a good insight into both of the sessions. I'll be holding several of these next year too, so watch out for the dates on our website and socials.

"My daughter, her mother-in-law and myself enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Louise making botanical vases. We were welcomed with a nice cup of tea and treats. Then given scraps of clay to practice on. Louise showed us how to decorate our vases with leaves and rollers. We then put the clay around a former and finished them. We are looking forward to seeing them after they have been fired. A nice afternoon was had by us all. Thank you Louise.”
