Yesterday's journal making & junk journalling experience taught by our guest tutor Zakiya - bookbinder & junk journal artist from Fanoggins - was a great success. With a small group of just four students this meant that everyone had plenty of 1-2-1 tuition.

Zakiya provided lots of stamps, ephemera, washi tapes, beautiful papers, stickers ... The morning started with each of the students selecting various papers and ephemera to make covers for their journals. It was like a sweet shop of colour and texture!

Each student chose their papers and embellishments and decorated their covers in their own unique styles. They went on to make pockets, envelopes, bands ... and even learnt some origami techniques!

A student returned with the journal she created at one of our previous junk journal making experiences so she could learn some further techniques including concertina sections and waterfalls to help embellish and fill her journal.

Everyone was very much in the zone and relaxed. It's such a therapeutic craft!

If you missed out on this wonderfully creative and calming experience, Zakiya is teaching a number of papercraft workshops throughout the year.

REVIEWS

Have spent a fabulous day at Blended Monkey junk journaling and scrapbooking with Zakiya (the tutor) and other crafters. She went to lots of trouble to make sure activities were planned carefully and closely matched to my previous knowledge and experience. I learned so much that I can use in my own projects. Fabulous hospitality from Louise and Simon who catered extremely well re my dietary requirements - much appreciated and thank you. Looking forward to next time.”
