Our wonderful guest tutor, Kate Janssens, taught another fabulous enamelling experience today!
The photos below give a good insight into the session which was evidently enjoyed by everyone, with each student creating the most lovely pendants and earrings.
Everyone got to either design their own unique pieces or create something using the huge variety of templates provided. The shapes were cut out from a sheet of copper using a vice and saw. The pieces were then decorated using finely powdered glass - and other media such as frit, millefiori beads & glass strands - that was sifted over the copper. The work was fired individually in tiny kilns to the correct temperature so as to melt and fuse. The effects are beautiful and sometimes unexpected; but under Kate's guidance everyone has produced work to be proud of.
We provided refreshments throughout (tasty brownies) and also a lovely lunch, with another lovely selection of bakes from Fanoggins Bakery - including some fab cinnamon biscuits and choc-chip cookies, fresh from the oven.
