Clay Botanical Vases Experience at the Blended Monkey Studios & Gardens - July 2026

Creating beautiful slab vases with botanicals & stamps in the pretty Blended Monkey gardens


I had a lovely group of ladies attend my 2-hour ceramic botanical vase making experience yesterday evening. We held the workshop in our outside covered studio surrounded by the Blended Monkey gardens, the sound of birdsong and a fresh breeze (which was most welcoming).

It was great to have a mum & daughter spend time together creating - Tiffany had also bought this experience as a birthday gift for her mum, Alison.

It was also fab to welcome a new student, Nici; and to greet some of our regular students, Allison & Wendy, who have been to us for numerous workshops, and who brought along Allison's sister, Clare. Nice to meet you Clare!


Everyone created their own unique, beautiful botanical vases using pressed in leaves, flowers and stamps.

I'd put together some vases of botanicals that I know print well, but I also encouraged the group to forage around the Blended Monkey gardens to find lots of other foliage and botanicals that caught their eye.

Some of the students combined their botanicals with stamps that I provided - including lovely bees, florals, geometric patterns ... Many chose to add sprigs to their vases (sprigs are extra elements that are attached to the clay using the score and slip method).

Each of the group has created their very own personal and unique vase. Clare has even stamped "Made By Clare" into the base of hers :-).

We provided refreshments and Simon kept us fuelled with plenty of drinks.

We had some interesting discussions and just enjoyed the peace, cool and calm of the surroundings. The vases will now dry slowly before they are biscuit fired. I'll then glaze them in the colours chosen by each of the students. The vases will then be high fired, and I'll post a photo of the finished results on our social media.


My next 2-hour ceramic botanical vase workshop is taking place at the Farmland Museum & Denny Abbey in Waterbeach (near Cambridge) on Sunday 11 October.

"I came to the ceramic botanical vase experience yesterday that my step daughter had bought me for my birthday and came with me. I have not done anything like that before and it was an extremely enjoyable experience! Louise was very good explaining all the steps and made it a fun and friendly evening.
