HALF-DAY WILLOW SCULPTURE WORKSHOP
Sunday 29 November 9.45 am – 12.30 pm 2026

£70.00 including refreshments, all materials, use of equipment on the day, tutoring & certificate of completion.
 
This half-day group workshop with our guest willow weaver and basket maker, Karen Bek, is suitable for all skill levels. 
 
Learn how to sculpt a garlic basket / bird feeder using willow and spend the day enjoying the very relaxing and meditative process of willow weaving.
You will learn how to make an approx. 40 cm high basket / feeder.
 
This HALF DAY WILLOW GARLIC BASKET / BIRD FEEDER SCULPTURE EXPERIENCE will be held in the peaceful setting of our small-group Crafts Studio at Blended Monkey on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. 
 
Numbers are limited to ensure you get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition. 
 
This garlic basket sculpture experience is suitable for 16+. 
 
About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc.

Refreshments will be provided - tailored to meet all dietary requirements.
 
All students will be provided with a certificate of completion.

The half-day workshop includes:

We also offer accommodation in the form of our Crafter's Retreat cabin subject to availability or we can advise of other local B&Bs.

  • Booking, Cancellation & Refund Terms & Conditions

    • The purchaser of the workshop may cancel the workshop up to 2 weeks before the workshop date with a full refund.

    • If we need to cancel a workshop at short notice for reasons beyond our control, such as illness or mechanical breakdowns, the first option is to rearrange a mutually convenient date or receive a refund. In the event of cancellation for any reason, we are unable to reimburse travel, accommodation or any other expenses that you may incur in relation to the cancelled course.

    "I weave contemporary and traditional willow baskets, incorporating other foraged, found and coppiced materials to create baskets that showcase the properties of natural materials.

    Craft work can contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally protective future. Gaining and passing on basketry knowledge and skills is a key part of my work.

    ​My previous work in social and therapeutic horticulture has influenced how I now teach basketry, using the craft to promote wellbeing and therapeutic practices. My workshops are designed to encourage the practice of slow and meaningful craftwork and I deliver workshops throughout East Anglia."
