This full-day group workshop with our guest willow weaver and basket maker, Karen Bek, is suitable for all skill levels.

Learn how to create your own runner duck or piglet sculpture using willow and spend the day enjoying the very mindful and relaxing process of willow weaving.

You will learn how to make a robust framework and some weaving techniques to add charm and character to your sculpture.

Everything you make is from willow - no string, no wire, no steel frames - just willow! What could be more sustainable?

The end result will be an approx. 50 cm-high willow runner duck sculpture or an approx. 40 cm x 30 cm willow piglet.

"I weave contemporary and traditional willow baskets, incorporating other foraged, found and coppiced materials to create baskets that showcase the properties of natural materials.

Craft work can contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally protective future. Gaining and passing on basketry knowledge and skills is a key part of my work.

My previous work in social and therapeutic horticulture has influenced how I now teach basketry, using the craft to promote wellbeing and therapeutic practices. My workshops are designed to encourage the practice of slow and meaningful craftwork and I deliver workshops throughout East Anglia."
