Gel Plate Printing | Blended Monkey Studios | 27 July 2025
GEL PLATE PRINTING WORKSHOP
Sunday 27 July 9.45 am – 1.00 pm
£55 including refreshments, materials, use of equipment on the day, tutoring, comprehensive notes to take home along with your landscape artwork and lots of printed papers.
This half-day group workshop with our guest tutor, Helen Thomas, is suitable for all skill levels.
You will focus on understanding the basics of using the gel plate for the printing process; exploring different techniques and developing creative skills.
Students will be able to successfully create prints using acrylic paint, stencils and mark making tools, then transfer images from the plate to paper, and understand how to manipulate the print for unique effects using leaves and flowers, including layering and masking techniques.
Gel plate printing is a form of mono-printing that uses a flexible, gel-like plate to create unique prints without the need for a press. It's a popular technique for both fine art and craft applications.
Students will be able to make use of the extensive Blended Monkey gardens to source leaves and grasses for their prints.
Once a selection of prints have been made, Helen will explain how to put this knowledge together and make a landscape picture with a 3D element.
All materials are provided.
Please wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.
This GEL PLATE PRINTING workshop will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border.
