    BOTANICAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

    Sunday 27 July 2025 2.45 pm – 6.00 pm

£50 including refreshments, all materials, use of equipment on the day, tutoring & certificate of completion.

This half-day group workshop with our guest photographer, Bridget Taylor, is suitable for all skill levels

You'll be given an introduction to botanical photography and produce botanical images for two coasters.

The aim of the experience is to increase photographic understanding and improve ability and confidence when taking photographs on a mobile phone or camera.

Whilst several SLR cameras will be available to use, participants should have their own camera or mobile phone on which to take photographs.

There will be an initial discussion on photography basics and how to capture a quality image. Looking at phone/camera position, composition, available lighting, cropping, focus, b/w or colour imaging.

Students will then get to walk around the Blended Monkey gardens (which includes ponds, established trees and wild areas) where points of interest and ways photographs could be taken will be discussed.

Students will be given time to take their own images with the support and guidance of Bridget.

The students will then choose the best images for fine tuning and printing. This will involve Bridget demonstrating some editing programs too.

Bridget will then take two images from each student which will then be sent off for printing onto coasters.

This BOTANICAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambs/Norfolk border.

"I have over 30 years of photographic experience; initially working as a fine art photographer at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and, having achieved a Fellowship with the Royal Photographic Society, sat for several years on the RPS Applied Distinction Panel.

Since then I have worked as a freelance photographer taking portraits, images for postcards, calendars, and other promotional photography.

More recently I have discovered the joy of botanical photography which supports my artistic practice as a textile artist and compliments my love of gardening."
