CLAY BIRD HEAD SCULPTURE WORKSHOP

Sunday 30 August 9.45 - 1.00 pm

£65 including refreshments, all materials, use of equipment on the day, glazing, firing of piece & tutoring.

This half-day group workshop with our guest figurative sculptor, Christine Pike, is suitable for all skill levels.

Make a quirky bird head in this short, fun experience! Your creation will be roughly 10 - 12 cm in height.

Christine will introduce you to basic clay hand-building techniques, such as coiling and thumb pots, to create a small bird head.

Working from examples and images you will be shown how to add character to your piece, and you can choose to base your sculpture on an actual species or create something completely imaginary.

You will be offered a choice of glaze washes to enhance the beauty of your piece and give a professional finish. The glazing and firing will be carried out by Louise (ceramicist from Blended Monkey). If you wish to add further colour to your piece once it is fired, Christine will suggest ways to add a "cold finish" using acrylic paint.

We will let you know when your sculpture is ready for you to collect (please allow at least 28 days). Your piece can be posted out by arrangement.

The bird head will be made from stoneware clay - so you can display it indoors or also outdoors as a small garden feature.

This BIRD HEAD SCULPTURE WORKSHOP will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border.

Numbers are limited to ensure you get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition.

This sculpture workshop is suitable for 16+.

About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day - tailored to meet all dietary requirements.

This would make a fabulous CRAFTY GIFT for someone - so drop us a line and we can post out to you/the recipient a complimentary personalised gift certificate for this experience🎁

The half-day workshop includes:

- Materials & use of equipment on the day
