This relaxed three‑hour small‑group workshop with our guest artist, Aimee, is suitable for beginners and for anyone who enjoys exploring beautiful, tactile materials.
 
You’ll be creating an elegant, fully handmade metal wreath using thin gold, silver and copper coloured aluminium sheets, a selection of wire, and a variety of decorative elements. Every wreath will be entirely bespoke — no two will ever be the same — making this a truly luxurious craft experience. The wreath will be approx. 30 cm wide depending on the design. The wreath base ring is 21 cm wide.
 
Working with thin, malleable aluminium sheets, you’ll explore embossing and debossing techniques with a variety of tools to create beautiful textures, shapes and forms. As standard, you’ll receive gold, silver and copper sheets, with the option to add accent colours including red, green, pink and blue. If you prefer a more minimal or tonal palette, you can choose to work entirely in gold, silver, copper, or an alternative combination.
 
Aimee will show you how layering different coloured elements, forms and textures can create depth, contrast and visual richness within your wreath — allowing your chosen design to really shine.
She will also demonstrate how to make unique 3D elements, including berry sprigs, stylised foliage, and decorative embellishments using wire and beads. All components of your wreath will be handmade by you, guided step by step with clear demonstrations and plenty of individual support.
 
A range of foliage and decorative templates will be provided, and Aimee will also show you how to design and cut your own templates to add personal flair. If you feel less confident creating your own shapes, Aimee will be on hand to support you — and can create bespoke template elements to your design brief during the session.
 
Each participant will receive a copper wire wreath base, handmade in advance by Aimee. You’ll learn secure attachment techniques to ensure your wreath is structurally sound and made to last for many years.
 
Depending on the complexity of your chosen design and the pace you feel comfortable working at, you may or may not complete your wreath within the three‑hour session. Your workshop fee includes a take‑home kit of tools and any allocated materials you haven’t used, allowing you to continue finishing your wreath in the comfort of your own home — and/or enabling you to create additional decorations such as Christmas ornaments. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have all the skills and confidence needed to keep creating.
 
This BESPOKE METAL WREATH WORKSHOP will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. 
 
Numbers are limited to ensure a calm, focused atmosphere and plenty of individual tuition. 
 
This workshop is suitable for 16+. 
 
About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you with practical details such as parking and what to expect on the day.

Refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks & homemade bakes) will be provided throughout the session - tailored to meet all dietary requirements.

    • The purchaser of the workshop may cancel the workshop up to 2 weeks before the workshop date with a full refund.

    • If we need to cancel a workshop at short notice for reasons beyond our control, such as illness or mechanical breakdowns, the first option is to rearrange a mutually convenient date or receive a refund. In the event of cancellation for any reason, we are unable to reimburse travel, accommodation or any other expenses that you may incur in relation to the cancelled course.

    "Creativity has always been part of what makes me me, and I don’t remember a time without it. My background spans fine art, mixed media and textiles, before I went on to gain a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Design Crafts, specialising in sculptural ceramics — a journey that’s given me a diverse creative perspective.

    I’ve developed a well‑practised, technical ceramic skill set that allows me to make almost anything; I love a challenge and I’m always creating something new. With a natural affinity for clay — my brain thinks in 3D — I’m particularly inspired by botanical forms and textures, animals (with a special interest in cats!) and playful character design. I love sharing my skills and supporting others as they bring their creative ideas to life. Clay is the ideal material for exploring possibilities: wonderfully malleable yet structurally strong, with limitless potential. Every piece is unique, taking on its own personality and carrying the unmistakable mark of its maker. Using traditional handbuilding techniques with a modern twist, I teach how to create structurally sound ceramic forms with care and intention. I believe technique supports creativity, and each piece deserves the time, attention and love needed to give it the best possible chance of surviving the kiln gods.

    Throughout my workshops, I demonstrate and explain the key concepts behind a successful build, while encouraging playful experimentation and personal expression.

    My sculptural work and ceramic workshops sit under my @aimeesculpts umbrella. You may also recognise me from @nachoandtikisstudio, which represents the mixed‑media and illustrative side of my creative practice.
