    FULL-DAY WILLOW WEAVING WORKSHOP

    Sunday 6 July 9.45 am – 4.00 pm

£125.00 including refreshments, lunch, all materials, use of equipment on the day, tutoring & certificate of completion.

This full-day group workshop with our guest willow weaver and basket maker, Karen Bek, is suitable for all skill levels.

Learn how to make a shallow round or oval frame basket using preset frames and a variety of willows, allowing you to create a unique and colourful basket.

You will learn how the frames are made and then make and attach the ribs of the basket, securing them with extra fine willow and then weaving around the frame, adding further ribs as the weave progresses.

The end result will be a shallow frame basket that can be used as a serving platter, bread basket or fruit basket.

This FULL DAY BASKET WEAVING EXPERIENCE will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey Studios on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border.

Numbers are limited to ensure you get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition.

This basket weaving experience is suitable for 16+.

About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day and also a lovely lunch - tailored to meet all dietary requirements.

"I weave contemporary and traditional willow baskets, incorporating other foraged, found and coppiced materials to create baskets that showcase the properties of natural materials.

Craft work can contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally protective future. Gaining and passing on basketry knowledge and skills is a key part of my work.

My previous work in social and therapeutic horticulture has influenced how I now teach basketry, using the craft to promote wellbeing and therapeutic practices. My workshops are designed to encourage the practice of slow and meaningful craftwork and I deliver workshops throughout East Anglia."
