Join Simon, our resident woodturner & green woodworker, for a 4-EVENING GREEN WOODCRAFT COURSE 1: SPOON CARVING over 4 weeks.
A course for those who have busy lives and need an outlet for relaxation doing something different for a couple of hours each week and want to learn a new skill (and perhaps make a few friends along the way).
This course is being held every Tuesday evening 6.00 pm - 8.00 pm from 2 March through to 23 March. The group size is a maximum of 8 people; ensuring everyone gets plenty of 1-2-1 tuition.
This course will teach you how to make a serving spoon and / or a spatula from a shaped piece of wood.
Techniques will include:
- learning to clamp the piece in a spoon mule
- understanding how to cut with the wood grain
- carving with a hook knife
- using a spoke shave and small draw knife to shape the piece
- using an axe to shape and carve
- finishing (sanding and oiling as desired)
Simon will demonstrate each of the techniques and will give as much 1-2-1 tuition as needed.
- All materials are provided throughout the course.
- Equipment is supplied for use during the course, including safety eyewear.
- Refreshments are included during each session, tailored to suit any dietary requirements or allergies.
- The course will take place in the dedicated covered outdoor workspace in the Blended Monkey gardens.
The 4-week evening course costs £140.00 and includes
- use of equipment and materials in each session, and tutoring
- refreshments - catering to all dietary requirements
- as much 1-2-1 tuition as required
