COPPER JEWELLERY WORKSHOP - CREATE A BEAUTIFUL PAIR OF COPPER FEATHER EARRINGS
Sunday 23 May 10.00 am - 1.00 pm OR 2.30 pm - 5.30 pm
£65 including refreshments, materials, use of equipment on the day and tutoring.
This half-day group workshop with our guest tutor, Alan Payne, is suitable for all skill levels.
You'll be creating a pair of feather earrings made from recovered and recycled scrap copper. If you complete the earrings, Alan will have some other designs that you can make, but the focus will be on the techniques required to make the feather design.
You will learn how to:
- bend and hammer the copper to create folds
- heat with a blow torch to anneal the copper
- draw the design on to the copper and cut out to shape
- use a wedge hammer to apply texture
- smooth rough edges with needle files
- clean up using fine wire wool
- punch and drill holes for the hooks
- polish to a high shine on the polisher
- check the finish and fit the hooks
Alan will bring examples of his work to inspire you and he will be on hand to provide assistance where needed.
No real physical strength is required and this workshop is very beginner friendly.
All materials are provided.
Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy or bring along an apron.
