Yesterday's full-day spoon carving experience taught by our very own Simon at the Haddenham Arts Centre was great fun. Each student created their own large serving spoons or spatulas or even "spoontulas" - is that a thing?
After welcome teas, coffees & biscuits in the centre's café, we took the group out into the gardens where they were each given their own spoon mules and set of equipment to use for the day. Simon gave everyone an introduction & lesson in how to use the hook tool and spoke shave, and how to make the best cuts in the green pear wood.
Simon & I were both on hand throughout the today to ensure everyone was happy using the tools and that each student would be leaving the experience with a spoon/spatula to be proud of. We always provide aftercare instructions and sandpaper to take home, so students can further refine their work later on.
Each student made something completely different and unique, despite starting off with the same sized blank of pear wood.

REVIEWS
“Had a fantastic day with Simon and Louise learning how to carve a wooden spoon as part of a small group. I had previously done a wood turning day with Simon so I knew I was going to learn a lot and have a wonderful time and I wasn’t disappointed. Simon gave clear and helpful instructions and was happy to offer advice and help whenever we needed it. One of the great things about the day was that Simon encouraged us to be creative and do what we wanted in terms of design. I highly recommend Blended Monkey and their many courses - you’ll have a great time and leave inspired to be more creative!”
