Today's full-day fused glass experience taught by our wonderful guest tutor, the talented June Massey, was a great success. Each student decorated four panels with their own unique designs and colour schemes. Once fired, these panels will adorn the four sides of a metal lantern.
The students learnt how to cut glass and "nibble" it to get the right shapes. They were able to choose from a myriad of lovely glasses, frits, millefiori beads and glass ephemera which was then arranged on their glass panels to depict anything they wished - today included sheep, botanicals, flowers, sunsets, seascapes ...
Our highly skilled fused glass tutor, June, expertly guided the group through all the stages, and as usual I popped in now and then to take lots of photos and see how everyone was getting on. I'm very drawn to all the beautiful coloured glass!
As anyone who's attended our Blended Monkey Studios in the past will know, we always make sure creativity is fuelled with plenty of teas, coffees, freshly-baked chocolate brownies (courtesy of Fanoggins Bakery) and also shortbread was on today's refreshments menu.
Not forgetting the lovely lunch we provide featuring more of Fanoggins Bakery's bakes and plenty of gluten-free goodies for our two gluten-intolerant students.
June has now taken the work home with her to fire in her specialist fused glass kiln. The creations will then be brought back to our studios, and students will be able to collect them by arrangement.

REVIEWS
“I have just returned from a full day "Fused Glass" class at this wonderful location.
Everything about the day was just SO good. The class size of 6 allowed plenty of time for questions, information sharing and assistance.
The refreshments, nibbles and the lunch provided were very tasty and homemade catering for various dietary needs.
I have lived in this area for many years and have only just discovered this "multi craft location" which gives any crafter, of varying skill sets the opportunity to learn or extend their knowledge.
I had a lovely day and returned home with their diary of courses and the excitement to plan my return for the year ahead.”

“I had an absolutely fantastic experience at the glass fusing course with June Massey at Blended Monkey. June is an exceptional instructor — knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly encouraging. She explained each stage clearly and made the techniques feel accessible, regardless of experience level.
The small group of six made such a difference. It felt personal, relaxed, and allowed plenty of individual attention and guidance. The atmosphere was creative and welcoming throughout.
The food was also spectacular — beautifully prepared and thoughtfully catered so that everyone was included. It really elevated the whole day and made it feel like a special experience rather than just a class.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in glass fusing. A truly inspiring and well-organised experience.“
