Full-Day Fused Glass Experience - Creating a Beautiful Bird Bath - at our Blended Monkey Studios - August 2026

This weekend was bustling with various different workshops, and we hosted fused glass bird bath experiences on both Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday's full-day fused glass experience taught by our wonderful guest tutor, the talented June Massey, was another great success. Each student decorated their own large squares of glass with unique designs and colour schemes to create stunning bird baths.
Once fired, these pieces can be used outside on stands or could be wall art or table decorations.
The students learnt how to cut glass and "nibble" it to get the right shapes. They were able to choose from a wealth of lovely glasses, frits, millefiori beads and glass ephemera which was then arranged on their glass panels to depict anything they wished - we saw botanicals, garden scenes, toadstools, dragonflies & wonderful patterns ...
Our highly skilled fused glass tutor, June, expertly guided the group through all the stages, and I popped in now and then to take lots of photos and see how everyone was getting on. I'm very drawn to all the beautiful coloured glass - it's like the lure of a sweet shop!
As anyone who's attended our Blended Monkey Studios in the past will know, we always make sure creativity is fuelled with plenty of refreshments, and we had freshly-baked gluten-free chocolate brownies and also shortbread (courtesy of Fanoggins Bakery) on today's refreshments menu.
Not forgetting the lovely lunch we provide featuring more of Fanoggins Bakery's bakes and plenty of allergy-mindful treats.
June has now taken the work home with her to fire in her specialist fused glass kiln. The creations will then be brought back to our studios, and students will be able to collect them by arrangement.

A huge thank you to June Massey, who was a wonderful tutor. She was patient, encouraging and incredibly knowledgeable, making the whole lesson feel both enjoyable and achievable. I was especially thrilled when June included a little extra hedgehog after the lesson, which completed the look I had really wanted.
The lunch included with the session was absolutely wonderful too, and the refreshments were, as always, served with a smile.
