Chat, Woodturning Demonstration & "Have A Go" Experience
We were greeted by a warm welcome and a fabulous turnout at the Christchurch Ladies' Group on Wednesday afternoon. It was lovely to see so many interested faces and we're pleased everyone enjoyed the demonstration.
Simon & I gave a brief talk about what we do here at Blended Monkey, covering our creative therapy work, our 1-2-1 and pairs workshops & our guest tutor small-group experiences, where we invite guest tutors here to our Blended Monkey Studios in Upwell to come and teach their craft.
The afternoon was split into two sections, and Simon demonstrated turning a honey spoon for the first section - this was then donated as a raffle prize.
After a lovely cup of tea (and some yummy shortbread), Simon went on to create a turned mushroom as another raffle prize.
Members were invited to come up and have a go at woodturning themselves, and one lady was keen to see what it was like and, as is usually the case, surprised at how little physical effort is required - it's a very relaxing, gentle craft provided you have sharp tools so they can do all the work.
Thank you to the Christchurch Ladies' Group for their warm welcome. This is a relatively new group and they are looking for more members of all ages. So if you're interested in joining, email Margaret at lilhayes68@gmail.com.
